The World Economic Forum in Davos goes web 2.0, or at least web 1.5

As you probably know every year, the world’s top leaders from politics, business and the global community attend the Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, to discuss how to make the world a better place. The forum starts the 23rd of January.

This year however, everyone can join the conversation. The Swiss people over in Davos (ok, maybe they’re not Swiss) has set up a YouTube channel where YOU can post YOUR suggestions on how to make this world a better place. They call it the Davos Question: “What one thing do you think that countries, companies or individuals must do to make the world a better place in 2008?
Visitors to the channel can then vote on which clips they think should be played on the big screen in front of all those “great” leaders.
I think this is a fantastic initiative. But it’s web 1.5. If you get all these “normal” people to actually submit their suggestions, why not send the people whose videos was voted top 10 or even top 50 to attend the actual summit and deliver them in real life. After all, these people represents the thinking of millions.
The Davos Question has been live for only a couple of weeks and is already among the top 30 most watched videos.
